SPHS 391: Motor Learning and Development

This course explores how human movement skills are acquired, refined, and adapted across the lifespan, from infancy to older adulthood. Emphasis is placed on foundational concepts and theoretical frameworks of motor behavior, lifespan motor development, and factors influencing skill acquisition, such as feedback, practice, and environmental constraints. The course integrates theory with application, preparing students to assess motor competence and design effective instructional programs that promote skill acquisition, performance, and long-term retention.

Prerequisites

PSY 101/PSYC 120 and BIOL 307.
