This course explores how music shapes emotional experience, identity, and well-being in everyday life, drawing on perspectives from psychology, music studies, and cultural analysis. Through guided listening, discussion, reflection, and creative projects, students examine how music can be used intentionally for emotional regulation, stress management, self-understanding, and social connection. The course emphasizes personal listening habits and the development of lifelong strategies for using music to support mental and emotional health. Each week, students consider: How can music be used more intentionally in my life? No musical training is required.
