AILT 101: AI Foundations: Ethics and Soc

Many people use AI tools without knowing how they work, how they are developed, or their potential impacts. Through invited guest lectures, class discussions, and presentations, this interdisciplinary course provides a foundation in AI literacy, considering ethical issues surrounding AI, the benefits and risks of AI development and deployment, and responsible AI-use.

CLAS 101: Transfer Seminar

Credits 1
As the cornerstone of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Transfer Student Program, this seminar provides an opportunity for students to get to know the intellectual community they have joined, while introducing them to campus resources that will help them succeed. Throughout the seminar, students further develop core skills that lead to academic and professional accomplishment. The Transfer Student Program also facilitates mentoring relationships among the transfer students and their faculty and peers. Graded Pass/Fail.

CLAS 102: FYE Portfolio

Through reflective writing, new CLAS first-year students examine their college experience and explore what it means to be a student in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Alfred University.

FREN 304: Le Monde Francophone

Credits 4

This course explores the diverse cultures and literatures of French-speaking regions around the world from Africa to the Antilles to Quebec. Material includes for example political history, literature, music, film and cuisine. Course conducted in French.

ISM 450: Independent Study

Credits 1 4
Academic inquiry into an area not covered in any established course by the student in the Individually Structured Major program, under supervision of the student's ISM board. Approved Plan of Study required.

ISM 495: Baccalaureate Project

Credits 4 6
Senior project within the Individually Structured Major Program under supervision of the student's Advisory Board. Permission of Advisory Board Chair.
